There was an explosion in dowtown Bozeman, Montana at 8:15 am MT. A two block area on Main St. was evacuated. Bozeman is a city of approx. 38,00 people, in South Central Montana. A spokesman for the medical facility said no one had been admitted there. There are no reported casualties, however 1 person is still unaccounted for.
Officials are investigating the possability that the explosion was caused by a natural gas leak. Crews were letting the fire burn, due to a natural gas line that they were unable to completely turn off.
4 businesses were destroyed in the blast, The Rocking R Bar, Montana Trails Gallery, The American Legion Building, and Lily Lu's Children Store. Bozeman has not seen an incident like this in 24 years according to Assistant City Manager, Chuck Winn, who spoke at a 10 am press conference. Authorities believe that the explosion initiated from Boodles in the 200 block of Main St.
Crews are still trying to manage the fire that continues to burn in the city's downtown core. And to prevent it from spreading East. The debris is still not safe enough to search through.
